INTRODUCTION
Fundamental motor skills – otherwise known as FMS are the basic skills or gross motor skills that are the base movements we need, to play any type of sport or game that involves movement. The better tuned that these skills become, the better we are able to play and the more we want to, because we have more confidence to do so. Without confidence young children, teenagers or even adults shy away from any type of physical activity which in turn is not good for our health. This is why it is essential that we are taught these basic skills from a young age.
Teaching FMS properly is essential for all of you,as you will have students at an age where they need to develop their FMS skills. It is in the curriculum framework to be focussed on in the early years but it is still essential to be aware of for all ages because poor technique in one area can be detrimental to how well we play different sports. Improving the basic technique will helps your students to be more effective sports people.
